This first book in the Milwaukee Dragons series was the ultimate slow burn!! Seth was recently traded to Milwaukee and, as a single dad, is trying to juggle his new team and his 12 year-old daughter. A chance meeting with Carrie leads to flirty texts and the possibility of more until she shows up to interview to be his daughter's nanny. Carrie needs a job more than she needs a relationship with this insanely attractive man. They both want to do the right thing and stay away from each other but the chemistry and attraction is undeniable. I loved that Seth was so devoted to making his daughter happy. I like Carrie but I felt like she didn't have a direction and maybe that's why she never got any of the jobs she applied for. I like that these two didn't just jump in and ignore the potential consequences of them getting together but the slow burn seemed to drag a bit toward the end. This is my first book by this author but I'm definitely going to be picking up the next book in this series!! *This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*
I really enjoyed this book... The first for my by this author and can't wait to continue the series. Seth Chamberlain: single dad who's a professional football player, Carrie Heron: science teacher who is into comics and cosplay. This story although I feel like we need more of Seth and Carrie as if they have more to tell; even an epilogue would have given something more, a closing of sorts however, I would definitely still recommend this. Well-written with characters you can connect to. I couldn't put this down; didn't want it to end and finished it in one sitting. Two people who meet at the grocery store - a single dad shopping for his twelve year old daughter and an unemployed science teacher currently down on her luck. They make a connection and start a sequence of events that neither expected. Then a turn/twist as they realize who the other is and why everything that they have been looking forward to and want; the connection that can't go any further. The sexual tension between these two is everything at times and when they can no longer separate the personal and the professional are the risks they are about to take worth it? Dive in and read the story of Seth and Carrie you will not be disappointed.!
This is the first book I have read by Liz Lincoln and I really enjoyed it. It is a charming, fun and flirty, sports romance with a mixture of sweetness, sexiness and laughter. I liked the two main characters and found it easy to relate to them. They are both good, genuine people and they have a lot of sexual chemistry. Seth, a football player, moves to Milwaukee when he starts playing for the Milwaukee Dragons. He is devoted to his twelve year old daughter, Maddy and is looking for a nanny. He wants to do the best he can for Maddy and he is willing to give up anything for her. Seth he is a great dad and a wonderful guy. Maddy is the most important thing to him and I respect him for that. Even though Seth loves football, it comes second to Maddy. Carrie is a geek. She is a laid off seventh grade science teacher looking for a job. Since she has no other offers, Carrie agrees to take the job as nanny to Seth’s daughter, Maddy. Carrie immediately hits it off with Maddy and they share a lot of the same interests. Carrie finds herself attracted to Seth’s big muscles and great body. She has to figure out how to adjust from teacher to nanny and also how to stay away from her employer. Carrie has never been a football fan but she loves to watch Seth play. Seth and Carrie have a lot of fun together and they are always bantering back and forth. They try to stay away from each other but their strong attraction and close contact make it difficult. I love the way Seth treats Carrie and how much he loves his daughter. I thoroughly enjoyed this heartfelt story. Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book vIa Cocktails and Books and Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.
4.5 Stars Seth has been traded to the NFL team, the Milwaukee Dragons (sort of wish there was a team named the Dragon. The could play the L.A. Unicorns. But I digress). He has a meet cute with Carrie in the grocery store where he is trying to buy products for his twelve year old daughters first period. They exchange numbers and start to flirt text while he is out of town for work (Carrie has no clue what he does) and they plan on going out when he gets back. Carrie is a teacher who has been laid off and lost her apartment, so she is thrilled when her brother sets up an interview with his old college football buddy “Lainie” as a nanny. Of course, Seth Chamberlain is “Lainie”. What I liked about this was there was instant attraction, but the love took time to develop. I did wish that they had developed the relationship of the daughter Maddie, and Carrie more. I also wish that that an epilogue had been included. If you want a fun sports/single dad romance, this is worth a read. I look forward to the next installment in the series. I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.
